older.html: Full-screen background layout pic, loads fairly fast, though, so that's okay. Good layout, although the white links on the pale grey background on the left aren't very readable until I hover (when they go black).
entries: Match archives layout. I'm starting reading at money.html.

general aesthetics
The font seems to be Century Gothic and is a little too small for my tastes, even though the layout appears to be designed for 1024x768. So I view the source and see that the size has been set at 8pt. Yes, a bit small. Otherwise, everything's okay.

Layout is by 2am designs, so the font size is presumably the fault of the designer. It's a good layout, visually, and everything is organised.

user-friendliness
The hover cursor is a crosshair. Not ideal, but not terrible. There is also a dashed border around the links in hover. This makes the links move sideways. Not such problem when links are on a line by themselves but will be annoying when a link is embedded in body text. Otherwise, everything's okay.

navigation
There are assorted links on the right, all nicely laid out in a column and with descriptive titles. The designer is credited in two locations and forward and back navigation is easy to find and obvious in function. One serious problem - link and visited link colours are the same (white). Makes it hard for a person to see where they haven't been yet.

Frequent updates, circumstances permitting. Plenty of info about the writer to assist a newbie reader. Very good.

my comments

The size of the text and the not-very-visible white-on-grey links could be improved, but only if the designer lets you modify the code. It's much better to set font size in pixels (px) than points (pt) because the size is then proportional to the viewer's resolution (also, Macs display at 96dpi whereas PCs display at 72dpi, meaning 8pt on a Mac will be an illegible blur). So it should be 11px rather than 8pt. The matter of unvisited and visited links being the same colour is also a flaw, interfering with ease-of-use.

Archive structure is good - archiving is by the month.
